The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG is an entrance examination in India, for students who wish to study any graduate medical course (MBBS/dental course (BDS) or postgraduate course (MD/MS) in government or private medical college in India. NEET-UG (undergraduate), for MBBS and BDS courses, are conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). NEET-UG replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and all individual MBBS exams conducted by states or the colleges themselves in 2013. However, many colleges and institutes had taken a stay order and conducted private examinations to their MBBS and BDS courses. Last NEET (2017) was held on 7th May and results were declared on 23rd May.
Undergraduate courses at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, postgraduate Institute for Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research JIPMER are outside the NEET’s purview, as these institutes were set up by separate laws.
So, if you are interested in sitting up for the NEET next year, you have to start your preparations today.
One should keep the following points in mind while doing it:
- Practice sets- apart from being thorough with your preparations, one should also take care of the previous year’s questions and sample papers. Especially the past two years, that would include neet 2016 sample papers and question paper and NEET 2017 sample papers and question papers and 2018 sample papers.
- Knowing your syllabus thoroughly- to prepare properly, one must first know the proper syllabus for the year they want to appear for. Regarding books one should most certainly refer to the NCERT books.
- Online mock tests- The net has proven to be a very helpful thing to the youngsters today, and especially when it comes to online mock tests. There are various sites that provide you with mocks and also the answers to them.
Apart from these main steps, regular basis study revision is a must. One must revise, review and recall everything that you study. This helps one remember their study concepts for a longer period. Success in CBSE NEET is not only for the clever and hard working people. One must also have the right attitude towards the exam.
If one is to take advise of the NEET toppers, then one must not just go through a few previous year’s samples, but solve the past 10 years altogether. This helps one know the patterns. If one is a part of a coaching institute, then most probably these things have already been taken care of by the institute teachers. But, still one must take care from their end too. That doesn’t mean neet sample paper 2016, 2017, and 2018 do not help. But, solving 10 years questions does give one an upper hand and a clearer view.
NEET is not that difficult to crack if one actually sets their eye on it. You just have to smart work, slogging for 18 hours and mugging everything won’t work. Believe in yourself. Don’t give up and always work hard.
